Though you can find the term “athleisure” all over the internet, many of my close friends and family insist I made the term up.
Athleisure is athletic clothing worn leisurely. Yoga pants, athletic shorts, sports bras, athletic tank tops, and/or any fitness garb that is worn NOT to exercise but to look cute/sporty and be comfy.
Ironically, many of those who insist there exists no such thing as athleisure are wearing it constantly!
Others who KNOW they have athleisure LOVE athleisure and thus will relate to all of the following clues to its existence.
You know you’re wearing athleisure when…
You could jump out of bed in the morning and immediately go for a run.
While you could do Zumba in what you’re wearing, you change into an ugly sports bra/shorts before you exercise, because you don’t want to ruin your cute outfit.
If you were to slap on some tennis shoes, everyone would think you’re heading to the gym.
In fact, tennis shoes are the only thing that goes with your outfit.
Your butt is 10x smoother than normal.
You are extremely comfortable no matter what position your body is in.
Your bra has no padding, underwire, or hooks.
You’re covered in spandex daily, but you can’t remember the last time you lifted a dumbbell.
Athleisure. It exists. And you love it.
So, there, friends and family! Go throw on some yoga pants and accept the fact that athleisure is covering your butt.
In other news, I still haven’t made any friends down here (yet).
I did have a pretty fun time with Husband this past weekend, though, making frozen margaritas and learning how to play cribbage.
We played with this cribbage board, which was hand-made for Husband and me by Little Brother!
The “M” stands for McInnis (our last name).
Had to call Little Brother eight times for clarification on cribbage rules. Cribbage is extremely complicated.
After an hour and a half of playing with Husband, I felt brazen and intoxicated enough to call Little Brother (again) and challenge him to a cribbage duel, “shot-for-shot.” Not sure what I meant by that, but, apparently, it’s on.
Also, I made more homemade salsa this weekend! SO EASY.
Well, fill a 4- or 5-quart pan with water, 8-9 Roma tomatoes, and 2-3 jalapeños. Bring the whole thing to a boil. Once the tomatoes split, throw them and ONE jalapeño into a blender with a bunch of cilantro, pepper, and salt. Blend up! Taste your salsa and add another jalapeño (or two) if you want more heat.
We’ve been eating homemade salsa nonstop around here and we love it.
We’ve also been eating chicken fajita tacos with HOMEMADE TORTILLA SHELLS.
They are super easy to make, and I’ll share the recipe with you soon.
Once you go homemade with tortilla shells, you’ll never go back.
Also homemade in Brooke’s kitchen lately: kale chips. Even easier to make than salsa!
You just spread kale out onto a cookie sheet, spray with coconut oil (or rub with any oil), sprinkle with salt and pepper, and bake in a 350-degree oven for 8-10 minutes.
Crispy, salty, and healthy! Ideal!!
Kale chips are the perfect thing to eat when you’re sitting around in
leggings athleisure all day.
